Coach

I have participated in every single CrossFit Open and have logged scores for every workout. I am proud to have been consistent with CrossFit for 16+ years, and all three of my kids got into weightlifting through CrossFit and have made it to Youth Nationals. Raising three kids and moving every few years was not easy. CrossFit gave me clarity and confidence, and I knew if I could get through mentally tough things inside the gym, I could handle anything in life outside the gym. I’m also pretty proud of my 3x365 deadlift and my UB 1:32 Grace. :)

Qualifications

CrossFit L-1, CrossFit L-2 (2x), B.S. in Psychology, Personal Training from AAAI/ISMA, Certification from OptimizeMe Nutrition

About Coach

I have two older brothers, so I was always a little competitive growing up. I played soccer from a young age and ran track in high school. I started CrossFit in 2010 at Centurion CrossFit in Fort Hood, TX. I put my three young kids in childcare and went to the next building over to check out what these ladies were doing with barbells. After my first class, I was hooked. It was a nice switch up from my basic 24 Hour Fitness routine. I didn’t start CrossFit to make friends or for the community, I just wanted to get a good workout in and tone up my “skinny fat” body. It didn’t take long for me to realize that it was more than just a workout. I made new friends through the suffering, and my kids made friends through my new mom friendships. In 2012, I got my Level 1, and had my first coaching gig at SPCF. I knew the impact CrossFit had on my life, and I wanted to share that with others. Everywhere we (as a military family) moved, the first thing I would look for would be a CrossFit affiliate to become a part of. Coaching opportunities presented themselves, and I took advantage. I continue to learn everyday through coaching development and am currently studying to take my Level 3.

Turning Point

I’ve always struggled with a lack of self confidence. Being in an emotionally abusive relationship for years added to that self doubt. When I began CrossFit, that began to change. Knowing that I could get through a tough workout gave me confidence in other areas of my life. Being surrounded by like-minded individuals who supported me changed the way I approached life in general. When I first started CrossFit, I had no intention of coaching. The thought of that terrified me… the public speaking, the talking to people, the correcting of people’s technique. Who was I, and why would they listen to me? Coaching really got me out of my comfort zone, and I’m proud to overcome those fears.

Motivation & Passion

My purpose for coaching is to change lives the way my life was changed through CrossFit. I remember the coaches who have impacted my life, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I want to help my athletes be the best version of themselves they can be.
